Destination British Columbia
Services:
Corporate Communications
My work for Destination British Columbia, a provincial Crown Corporation, has involved:
Writing speeches and creating visual presentations for the executive team, which are delivered at various conferences, councils and AGMs throughout the year;
Writing the industry newsletter, which is deployed to the entire BC tourism industry;
Creating social media content for the corporate LinkedIn channel;
Creating communications plans and executing tactics for various programs;
Editing the company’s employee handbook; and
Supporting content development for key initiative such as accessible tourism and Indigenous tourism, Tourism Week, travel media pitching and more.
Corporate communications example
During the COVID pandemic, I supported Destination BC’s pivot to lead industry-wide virtual presentations every two weeks sharing the latest need-to-know information and updates. My role was to write the script based on information obtained from the Province, Health Officer, and other partners; support the creation of an accompanying visual presentation; and make swift edits based on feedback from the executive team. Since these calls were conducted so often, I had to write inspiring, impactful, and informative content that required minimal editing, with a tight turnaround of mere days.
